Estimate of eligible voters:

To be eligible to vote in Jersey a person must be over the age of 16 and have lived in Jersey for two years; or to have lived in Jersey for six months, plus a period that totals five years.

Exact date of arrival in Jersey and previous periods of residence are not recorded in the census. Therefore, length of residence has been estimated from year of arrival, with an assumption that people arrive evenly throughout the year. Where length of residency is less than two years (and greater than 6 months), ‘Entitled’ residential status is used as a proxy for previous residence in the Island.
